The area is at risk for flooding and with the added challenge of past mining industires, which is now causing subsidence, there now exist interconeected risks that need to be dealt with.

Social vulnerability to flooding in Newcastle upon Tyne, the United Kingdom

Summary

The city of Dresden has experienced several flooding events. A particularly severe one took place in 2002. Since Dresden is located on the Elbe river only 50 km from Czechia and has succesfully negotiated cross ntaional partnerships to manage water flow in the river.
